Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
When detaching a virtual server from the Load Balancer and there are active connections, you see these symptoms:
- Interruption in the active traffic through the virtual server.
- Downloading files fail.
Environment
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5
Cause
This issue occurs when a virtual server is detached from the Load Balancer, the active connections through this virtual server may be disconnected.
Note: The connection might continue in some cases. However, this might not be reliable.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, VMware recommends that before detaching the virtual server from the Load Balancer:
- Plan a maintenance window.
- Wait until all the connections through the virtual server are complete. Proceeding without waiting may result in connection failure.
- Detach the virtual server from the Load Balancer.
