Tunnel displays as "UP" when there is no tunnel available in NSX-T

Issue/Introduction

This article provides information for clarify on the Heatmap tunnel summary status.

Symptoms:
Tunnel status displays as UP even when there are no tunnels available on the host.

It can be the following cases for no tunnel information:

• No VMs are available
• VMs are powered OFF
• Node in maintainace mode

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs as this is by design.

Resolution

This is by design.

When there are no tunnels on Host/Edge node, the exporter will report the tunnel status as UP.
