Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Management (DHCP) IP address on OVS bridge on KVM hypervisors change after an NSX-T hypervisor upgrade.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.x

Cause

This issue occurs because of the restart of the DHCP client.

NSX-T upgrade on KVM hypervisors will restart the DHCP client for any Open vSwitch bridges on that hypervisor. If the customer is using an OVS bridge for management connectivity, the restart of the DHCP client can result in a new IP address.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the DHCP server to provide the same IP address when the DHCP client (dhclient) restarts.
