Link down event not propagated to physical switch for some 10GBASE SFP+ transceiver

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When user turns off the laser for 82599-based SFP+ fiber adapters, running the "ifconfig ethX down" command in Linux or the "edge-appctl -t dpd.ctl physical_port/stop fp-ethX" command against the Edge datapath, the link down signal may be not propagated.

Environment

VMware NSX-T

Cause

This issue occurs because the transceiver used is untested and/or unsupported by Intel.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use the Intel recommended transceiver. For more information, see the Intel 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller: Datasheet.
