vCenter services fail to start using profile NONE

Issue/Introduction

Multiple VCSA services failing to start.

• Run command "service-control --status".

You can check other common issues such as space, and networking issues, to confirm VCSA is healthy.

• df -h (verify storage partitions healthy)

 

Running "service-control --start --all" fails to start all services. 

• No errors listed, but startup profile listed as "NONE".

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0

VMware vCenter Server 8.0

Cause

The default start profile was set to NONE instead of ALL.

Resolution

• Take appropriate snapshot of VCSA VM.
  • If in linked mode, take offline snapshots of all linked VCSAs.
• Use command "vi /storage/vmware-vmon/defaultStartProfile" to open and edit the startup profile config.
• Change NONE to ALL.
