Issue/Introduction

  • An alert stating that the vSAN Cluster disk space usage is approaching capacity.
  • Organization Owners and Members may receive an email or NGW stating the environment is reaching the vSAN capacity threshold.

Environment

VMC on AWS

Cause

  • When the storage capacity slack space for the cluster falls below 30%, automated notifications will be sent to the organization.
  • These notifications can be sent as an NGW and seen directly in the cloud console or through automated email notifications.

Resolution

  • If no action is taken, additional hosts will be added to the cluster if slack space falls below 20%.
  • This information is documented in the Service Level Agreement for VMware Clou on AWS
  • Additional hosts can be added to the cluster manually if needed to meet the SLA thresholds.
  • Automated notifications will continue to be sent while at or under 30% slack space in the vSAN cluster.

Note: The storage "High Threshold" of 80% cannot be modified and is included in the Elastic DRS Baseline
