Issue/Introduction

When creating disk monitoring in CA Spectrum, there are disks that have similar (but not the same) paths.

Can regular expressions (regexp) or wildcards be used?

Can I use regexp or wildcards in CA Spectrum Disk Monitoring?

Resolution

Regular expressions cannot be used for creating disk monitoring in CA Spectrum.

Wildcards cannot be used for *nix disk monitoring.

In most cases, the absolute disk name needs to be specified for the disk monitor to work with one exception. Wildcards can only be used for Windows disks that have the word "Serial" in them as can be seen in the following image.

For Windows disks, if the disk monitor table lists the disk with the word "Serial", then wildcards can be used.

To activate this feature add the following line to the $SPECROOT/SS/.vnmrc file. After saving the change to the .vnmrc file, restart the SpectroSERVER for the change to take effect.
