Issue/Introduction

Adding a vCenter instance fails with below error:

As the vCenter PBM service is down, it's not able to validate the certificates. So, we see below error:

"One or more certificates in the chain are not valid."
Error: Path does not chain with any of the trust anchors
Certificate chain details:Validity:[From : Dec 19, 2023 To: Dec 18, 2025] Common Name (6 characters min): vCenterFQDN

Environment

Aria Automation Orchestrator 8.x

Cause

vmware-sps service is stopped in vCenter

Resolution

1. Fetch vCenter's certificate from vRA/vRO node, 

2. Download and install vCenter Server root certificates https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=2108294

Note: Run command openssl s_client -connect vCenterFQDN:443 to validate the vCenter certificate

3. Import the certificate in vRO control center manually 

Certificates->Trusted Certificates->Import->Import from a PEM-encoded file

4. Make sure vmware-sps service running on vCenter.

5. Run the workflow "Add a vCenter server Instance"
