Edge Profile Assignment Error - "Profile does not contain dataCenter"

Issue/Introduction

Edge cannot be reassigned to a different Profile:

When attempting to change an Edge’s assigned Profile through Select Edge > Action > Change Assigned Profile, the following error is displayed:

Edge Profile does not contain dataCenter

In the debugging tools, we will notice this error. 

 

 

Environment

VMware SD-WAN Edge

Cause

This is expected behavior due to the specific configuration of Business Policies involving CSS or NSD, which restricts the reassignment of Profiles.

 

Resolution

There is currently no permanent resolution, as this is standard behavior.

Workaround

To change the Profile for an Edge with CSS or NSD-based Business Policies, follow these steps:

1. Delete the Business Policy that uses CSS/NSD at the Profile or Edge level.
2. Reassign the Edge to the desired Profile.
3. Recreate the Business Policy with the same configurations as before.

Note: Performing these steps will cause a temporary service outage, as Business Policies must be deleted and recreated.

 

 

Additional Information

Customers will be unable to reassign Profiles until Business Policies associated with CSS or NSD are removed.
