Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • "VM XXXX failed to update and has been rolled back" error when moving a VM between vApps in two different vCenter Datacenters in Cloud Director 10.2.x and 10.3 versions.
  • Within log reviews, the provider might see the following errors : 
    • Error:  com.vmware.ssdc.util.exceptions.NotSupportedException: The operation is not supported on the object.
       at com.vmware.ssdc.library.vim.LmVim.Convert(LmVim.java:291)
       at com.vmware.ssdc.library.vim.LmVim.Convert(LmVim.java:497)


Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs when Cloud Director is asked to account for multiple Datacenters during a Move operation.
Moving between vCenter Datacenters is not a configuration that the design of that Cloud Director workflow has accounted for.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud Director 10.2.x, and 10.3 versions.
The issue is resolved in VMware Cloud Director 10.3.1, available at Broadcom Downloads.
