Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: The selection to enable secure boot in the H5 client is not available in VM's "Edit Settings -> VM Options -> Boot Options" when Guest Operating System is set to Debian 10.
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 6.5.x VMware vCenter Server 6.7.x
Resolution
To resolve this issue:
Create a new VM with hardware version 13 or higher.
Set the guest OS family as “Linux” and guest OS Version is "Other 4.x or later Linux (32 bit)” for “Debian GNU/Linux10 (32 bit)”, or "Other 4.x or later Linux" for “Debian GNU/Linux10 (64 bit)”.
Enable secure boot by “Customize hardware->VM Options->Boot Options->Firmware->EFI->Enable Secure Boot”.
Boot a Debian 10 installer CD and finish the installation.
Reboot and In the shell, run the command to verify secure boot is enabled:
