Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to an improper clean up of previous data after the previous vCenter Server was installed and then removed.

Note: This issue affects only vCenter Server 6.0 Update 1 and later versions.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, manually clean up the previous vCenter Server data that is impacting the reinstall by removing or renaming the C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\runtime\vsphere-client\server\work folder and running the installation again.

If the above step did not resolve the issue, remove or rename the file contents of the C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\ folder
