SDDC UI throws error "COMPATIBILITY_MATRIX_CONTENT_FILE_NOT_FOUND" in 5.x versions

Issue/Introduction

  • We see the below errors
    FAILED_TO_VALIDATE_SDDC_MANAGER_COMPATIBILTY"
    COMPATIBILITY_MATRIX_CONTENT_FILE_NOT_FOUND
  • Errors in SDDC Manager Bundle Management
    Retrieving all applicable bundles failed. Encountered fetching http://127.0.0.1/icm/inventory/upgrades api - FAILED_TO_VALIDATE_SDDC_MANAGER_COMPATIBILITY; Failed to validate if SDDC Manager with version 5.0.0.0-21822418 is compatible with system.
    
    Retrieving available bundles failed. Unable to retrieve aggregated domains upgrade status: Encountered fetching http://127.0.0.1/lcm/inventory/upgrades api-
    FAILED_TO_VALIDATE_SDDC_MANAGER_COMPATIBILITY: Failed to validate if SDDC Manager with version 5.0.0.0-21822418 is compatible with system.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation  5.x
VMware Cloud Foundation  5.2.x

Cause

SDDC Manager is unable to download the VMwareCompatibilityData.json file.

 

 

Resolution

In online environments the issue might be caused by network traffic being blocked. Verify that required URLs are not blocked, per this KB: Public URL list for SDDC Manager

In offline environments, follow the steps in the Offline Bundle Transfer Utility instructions to download the Compatibility Data. 

 

Additional Information

If SDDC Manager is on 5.1, please follow the KB Update compatibility endpoint for VCF 5.1 deployments to update the VVS endpoint.
