A Refresh of NFS Mount Point Does Not Show Larger Capacity

Issue/Introduction

  • When increasing the max-file-limit, it does not immediately show on ESXi or vCenter.
  • A storage rescan doesn't show the updated value.
  • Only a remount on at least one ESXi host will show the updated value on all ESXi hosts in the cluster.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

This behavior is expected due to the maxFileSize value being from the server once the mount is successful. 

Resolution

Unmount the datastore from at least one ESXi host and mount it again. This will force a refresh of the maxFileSize value
