VMware Validated Design 4.2 and 4.3 Planned Migration of vRealize Operations

Issue/Introduction

This article provides recommended steps to perform before a planned migration of vRealize Operations from Region A to Region B when vRealize Operations Manager remote collectors remain accessible.

Environment

VMware Validated Design for Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) 4.2.x
VMware Validated Design for Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) 4.3.x
VMware Validated Design for Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC)

Resolution

Note: The FQDNs and node names below are examples.  Replace the FQDNs and IPs as needed.

Perform the following steps before Initiating a Planned Migration of the Operations Management Applications.

1. Log in to vRealize Operations Manager Primary Node's admin UI at https://vrops01svr01a.rainpole.local/admin as the local admin user.
2. Under Cluster Status, click Take Offline.
3. In the take cluster offline dialog box, enter reason and click OK, then wait for the cluster to go into offline mode.
4. Initiate Planned Migration of the Operations Management Applications as define in:

• 4.2: Initiate a Planned Migration of vRealize Operations Manager
• 4.3: Initiate a Planned Migration of the Operations Management Applications

5. After failover is completed successfully, log in to UI with the above credentials.
6. Under cluster status, Select bring online option. Wait for the cluster to go into online mode.
