Deploy plug-in tasks failures reported in vCenter Server UI client

Issue/Introduction

The task console of the vCenter UI client contains reports for failed deploy plug-in tasks with error: "This is a vSphere Web Client (Flash) only plugin indicated by the missing type=\"html\" plugin manifest attribute."

Environment

Cause

Starting in vSphere 6.7 U2, an added feature will begin to report deployment failures for plug-ins in the vSphere Client (HTML5). Deployment failures are indicated by the completion/failure status of deployment tasks. Both the vSphere Client and the Flash-based vSphere Web Client display the status of all vCenter Server tasks. The status reports for plug-in deployment tasks are meaningful only for vSphere Client (HTML5); they do not indicate deployment failures of plug-ins on the vSphere Web Client (Flash).

Resolution

For the vSphere Web Client, they do not represent a failure of any kind.

For the vSphere HTML5 client, the plugin is not compatible and cannot be used.
