Issue/Introduction

Overview of the steps needed in order to install a NCM Device Server in a Network Address Translation (NAT) environment

Environment

NCM 10.1.X

Resolution

To install the Smarts NCM Device Server (DS) in a NAT environment, do the following:

  • On the Linux system where the DS is going to be installed, open the following file for editing:
open the /etc/hosts
  • Add an entry for the NAT IP address and hostname of the DS.
  • Verify that the hostname -i command returns the DS NAT IP address as in the output. I
    • If it does not, remove or comment other records for the host name in /etc/hosts file, and run the hostname -i command again.
  • Proceed with the installation based on the NCM installation guide.
  • To schedule the job in the Device Server, replace the ADDR entry in the primary infrastructure database with the NAT IP of the DS.
