Setting the Time Zone in the vCenter Server Appliance

Issue/Introduction

Changing the timezone of the vCenter Server Appliance from UTC time is not supported.

 

In the VMware vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 console there is the option to navigate and select a timezone, this option does not change the timezone and is no longer available in later versions.

Environment

vCenter Server Appliance 5.5

Resolution

By design, the Timezone is set to UTC and cannot be changed in the vCenter Server Appliance console. The vSphere Client and Web Client change the time to match the timezone the users computer is currently in.
