Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
After updating vCenter to 8.0b build 21216066 but not updating vSphere with Tanzu's Supervisor Cluster to 1.24 (Supervisor Version 0.1.1), "kubectl vsphere login" commands fail with:

FATA[0002] Failed to get available workloads, response from the server was invalid.

Environment

VMware vSphere 8.0 with Tanzu

Cause

This is because the vCenter components use an updated security feature for logins, but the vsphere-plugin on the Supervisor Cluster does not contain the bits to send the login requests with the new feature, leading to a mismatch and failure.

Resolution

Update the vSphere with Tanzu Supervisor Cluster from the vSphere Client under Menu -> Workload Management.

Workaround:
There is no workaround other than updating the Supervisor Cluster.
