Issue/Introduction

  • The ESXi hosts in the vCenter cluster are prepared for NSX-T.
  • When you attempt to use the cluster for a vLCM image, it fails with the following error:
    • Transport Node Profile is not configured on the cluster but NSX-T Data Center is installed on the following host(s): Apply Transport Node Profile without N-VDS on the cluster, or uninstall NSX-T Data Center.

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Cause

When VCF prepares a cluster for NSX-T, it attaches the Transport Node Profile (TNP) and when the cluster configuration is complete, it then detaches the TNP.
This can also be the case for none VCF prepared clusters, if the TNP was detached after preparing the cluster(s).

Resolution

Attach the TNP to the cluster(s) (Select Cluster in Host Transport Nodes pane, click Configure NSX, and apply TNP to cluster) and repeat the workflow to create the vLCM cluster image.
