NSX V2T Edge migration and rollback fails with CDO errors

Issue/Introduction

  • Edge migration failed with: [Reason: Overlay failed with 'Timeout while waiting for job b'jobdata-<job-id>' (NSX-V Manager Set CDO Times)']
  • Manually starting CDO in NSX-V generates error in vsm.log:
    [nsxv@6876 comp="nsx-manager" level="ERROR" subcomp="manager"] Exception encountered in VDS dvs-<DVS_ID>
    com.vmware.vshield.vsm.vdn.exceptions.XvsException: null
  • https://vcenter.fqdn/mob/?moid=dvs-<DVS_ID>   returns an HTTP ERROR 404, confirming that DVS object no longer exists on vCenter
  • Migrate Edge rollback may also fail with "REST API failed : 'Invalid CDO Config detect_time. Value should be between 2 and 120.'"

Cause

NSX-V database has references to a stale DVS which no longer exists in vCenter
