Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Increasing the Maximum lease(days) value in the lease policy does not increase the lease of existing deployments
  • New deployments done after increasing the lease in the policy will get the new lease.
  • Deleting a lease policy does not remove the lease expiry on already created deployments

Note: Decreasing the Maximum lease(days) value in the lease policy will decrease the lease of existing deployments

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.x (formerly known as vRealize Automation)

Cause

This is by design.  Lease policies defines constraints on the lease. It is not supposed to be used to perform bulk updates on the deployments.

Resolution

Increase the lease of individual deployments using the "change lease" day 2 action. For more details please refer to How to extend the lease beyond the Maximum Lease when there is a Lease Policy in VMware Aria Automation
