Post datastore remount operation, "maxFileSize" and "maxVirtualDiskCapacity" parameters are set to 2 TB.

Issue/Introduction

After the shared datastore is disconnected from all ESXi Host and connected again, a vmdk over 2TB cannot be created on the datastore.

When you try to create a vmdk over 2TB, you see the below error.

 

You see the Maximum file size parameter and the Maximum virtual disk size parameter as 2TB in vSphere Client.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.0

Resolution

This is resolved in vCenter Server 8.

Workaround:
Restart hostd service.
