Issue/Introduction

  • You have NSX-T 3.2.x or higher deployed.
  • The NSX-T managers are deployed in medium form factor.
  • In the Network Overview - Capacity window you can see the maximum capacity for Tier-1 Logical Routers is 400:
  • You may receive High or Critical alerts indicating the capacity threshold for Gateways has been breached.
  • The VMware maxims guide indicates that maximum capacity for Tier-1 Gateways is 4,000: Maxims guide

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

Since NSX-T 3.2, the capacity of certain objects such as the Tier-1 Gateways now depends on the form factor of the NSX-T manager.
In this case, the maximum capacity for Tier-1 Gateways, when using a medium form factor NSX-T manager is 400, where as it is 4,000 when using a large form factor NSX-T manager.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in NSX-T 3.2.2, where the maxims guide for NSX-T 3.2.2 has the correct maxims per NSX-T manager form factor: VMware Maxims Guide

Workaround:
If you require more Tier-1 Gateways, please increase the form factor of the NSX-T managers to large.
