How to Improve CA Vantage Performance and Reduce Memory Use

Issue/Introduction

Summary:

CA Vantage performance can be improved and memory/storage use reduced with some simple setup.

Instructions:

Adding entries to any of the 3 following categories of the INCLEXCL member of Parmlib will reduce the size of the DTOC and reduce memory use and processing time to gather the DTOC.
 
START-DTOCDEXC-DSN   DTOC Data Sets

Add DSNs or DSN patterns that you do not want to see in the DTOC.
 
START-DTOCVEXC-VOL   DTOC Volumes

Add volsers or vol patterns where you do not want to see the data sets on them in the DTOC, but you DO want to monitor those volumes space usage.
 
START-EXCLUDE-VOL    EXCLUDE Member

Add volsers or vol patterns here where you do not care to monitor those volumes space usage or any data sets on them.

Entries you place in this category are essentially not seen or used in any Vantage process.

Examples of volumes you might consider for this group are: 
 - Volumes dedicated to system generated temporary datasets
 - System volumes that you do not need to monitor like PAGE volumes
 - Data base volumes that do not need to monitor
 - Catalog volumes
