Issue/Introduction

This article explains the Performance service - Verbose mode in the vSAN Health Service and provides details on why it might report an issue.

Resolution

  • What does the Performance service – Verbose mode check do?

It checks if the vSAN performance service verbose mode is enabled and will throw a warning message when the verbose mode is enabled for more than 5 days.

In the screenshot, we can see Verbose mode  is currently enabled.

If we click on the EDIT button for the Performance Service, we can turn off (uncheck Verbose mode), and click Apply.

What does it mean if it shows warning and how to fix the warning state?

Verbose mode uses additional CPU, Storage IO and Storage space of vSAN. It is suggested to enable Verbose mode only as directed by VMware Support. This check will show warning when the verbose mode is enabled more than 5 days. The verbose mode can be turned off by editing the performance service settings.
