Skyline Collector Status: ‘No Products Configured’

Issue/Introduction

Message on Skyline Advisor: “No product endpoints are configured for data collection.”

Resolution

Follow the instructions in the below to configure endpoints on Skyline collector
 
  1. Login to the Skyline Collector UI by going to https://Skyline_VM_IPAddress
  2. Use the admin user credentials to log in
  3. Click on the ‘Configuration’ tab to configure below endpoints on Skyline Collector
    1. vCenter Server
    2. NSX-V
    3. NSX-T
    4. Horizon View
    5. Aria Operations
    6. VMware Cloud Foundation


Configuring vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector:
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.
  2. Under PRODUCTS, click vCenter Server.
  3. To add a new vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector, click Add vCenter Server.
  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the vCenter Server.
  5. Enter an Account Username for connecting to the vCenter Server, from the Skyline Collector. This account must have the minimum required privileges, as detailed in the KB59661.
  6. Enter the Account Password.
  7. If you are using an external PSC/SSO, or are using a custom Single-Sign-On domain, toggle the Use Custom SSO Configuration button to the right. The switch states Yes
  8. Enter the PSC/SSO Host Address.
Note: If you did not change the PSC/SSO configuration from the default, you DO NOT have to complete the Advanced Options (Optional) fields. If you are using a custom SSO domain, enter the SSO Admin URL, SSO STS URL, and Lookup Service URL for the custom SSO domain.
  1. To locate your SSO domain Advanced Options, see the vCenter Server vpxd.cfg file.
    1. In vCenter Server Appliance 6.x, the vpxd.cfg file is at /etc/vmware-vpx/.
    2. In Windows Server, the vpxd.cfg file is at C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\vpxd.cfg.
    3. In vCenter Server 6.0, the vpxd.cfg file is at C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\cfg\vmware-vpx.
  2. To complete adding the vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector, click Add.


Configuring NSX-V to the Skyline Collector:
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.
  2. Under PRODUCTS, click NSX-V.
  3. To add a new NSX Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add NSX-V.
    1. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the NSX Manager.
    2. Enter an Account Username for connecting to the NSX-V. This account must have the minimum required privileges, as detailed in the KB59661.
    3. Enter the Account Password.
  4. To complete adding NSX-V to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

Configuring NSX-T to the Skyline Collector:
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.
  2. Under PRODUCTS, click NSX-T.
  3. To add a new NSX Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add NSX-T.
    1. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the NSX-T Manager nodes cluster virtual IP address (VIP). See Configure a Virtual IP Address for a Cluster (NSX-T Data Center documentation) for more details.
    2. Enter an Account Username for connecting to NSX-T. This account must have the minimum required privileges, as detailed in the KB59661.
    3. Enter the Account Password.
  4. To complete adding NSX-T to the Skyline Collector, click Add.


Configure Horizon View to the Skyline Collector:
 
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.
  2. Under PRODUCTS, click Horizon View.
  3. To add a new Horizon Connection Server to the Skyline Collector, click Add Horizon View.
    1. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the Horizon Connection Server.
    2. Enter an Account Username for connecting to the Horizon Connection Server, from the Skyline Collector. This account must have the minimum required privileges, as detailed in the KB59661.
    3. Enter the Account Password.
  4. To complete adding the Horizon Connection Server to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

Configure Aria Operations Manager (vRealize Operations Manager) to the Skyline Collector
 
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.
  2. Under PRODUCTS, click Aria Operations.
  3. To add a new Aria Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add Aria Operations.
    1. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the Aria Operations Manager.
    2. Enter an Account Username for connecting to the Aria Operations Manager, from the Skyline Collector. This account must have the minimum required privileges “Aria Operations Read-Only Role”.
If using an Active Directory account, enter the username only. You do not need to provide the domain name.
Example, for the user [email protected], enter 'admin' only.
    1. Enter the Account Password.
    2. To use a domain user account for adding the Aria Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector, enter the Authentication Source name. This is the domain name.
For the Domain CORP.LOCAL, enter CORP within the Authentication Source text field.
  1. To complete adding the Aria Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add.



Configure VMware Cloud Foundation to the Skyline Collector:
 
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.
  2. Under PRODUCTS, click VMware Cloud Foundation.
  3. To add an SDDC Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add VMware Cloud Foundation.
    1. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the SDDC Manager.
    2. Enter an Account Username for connecting to the SDDC Manager, from the Skyline Collector. This account must have the minimum required privileges “SDDC Manager Viewer Role”.
    3. Enter the Account Password.
  4. To complete adding VMware Cloud Foundation to the Skyline Collector, click Add.
