Issue/Introduction

This article is intended for customers that have TKGS supervisors registered to TMC and are unable to modify a TKC using TMC

Symptoms:
TMC will return an error that looks like "API Error: Failed to update cluster: cluster has attached volumes and cannot be updated (operation aborted)"

Cause

Because TMC does not yet support multiple volumes, TMC has put a safe guard in place to avoid modifying volumes it is not managing.

Resolution

To modify a TKC that is managed by TMC, the customer should modify the TKC directly using kubectl and the TKGS supervisor cluster. Additionally, they should "attach" the cluster to TMC rather than rely on using TMC to manage its lifecycle until support multiple volumes exists in TMC.
