  • The Check for error dumps in ESXi health check  returns a YELLOW state.
  • Coredump directory on the affected ESXi hosts (/var/core) have one or more files like objtool, python files.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation

Cause

The Yellow state of the ESXi health is reported due to the diagnostic files, such as log bundles, coredump etc. present on the affected ESXi hosts. This status is often triggered by utilities like sos collecting vSAN health and performance data, which leaves files in the coredump directories.

Resolution

The waring can be safely ignored. If the files are checked and not required, they can be safely deleted from the affected ESXi hosts.
