Collecting diagnostic information for VMware vCloud Usage Meter

Issue/Introduction

Broadcom Technical Support routinely requests diagnostic information from you when a support request is handled. This diagnostic information contains product specific logs and configuration files from the host on which the product is run. The information is gathered using a specific script or tool for each product.

This article provides procedures for obtaining diagnostic information for VMware vCloud Usage Meter.

Cause

How to collect Diagnostics in vMware vCloud Usage Meter

Resolution

To collect the diagnostic information:
  1. In vCloud Usage Meter 4.8.x:
    1. Log in to the vCloud Usage Meter console as usagemeter.
    2. Navigate to the cloudusagemetering directory /opt/vmware/cloudusagemetering
    3. To generate the support bundle, run the following script:
                      ./scripts/bundle.sh


    Note: This process takes a few minutes. The generated support bundle file bundle.tar.gz is saved to the cloudusagemetering directory.
  2. Upload the support bundle to Broadcom.
  3. For more information, see Uploading files to cases on the Broadcom Support Portal.
The diagnostic information collected can then be uploaded to Broadcom Technical Support. To uniquely identify your information, use the case number you received when you opened your request for support.
