Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • VMware Cloud Foundation 3.0 Bring-up fails when a question mark character is used in one or more passwords.
  • The validation phase of the VMware Cloud Foundation 3.0 Bring-up did not display any warnings or errors related to the chosen passwords.
  • You see a message similar to the following in the /var/log/vmware/vcf/bringup/vcf-bringup-debug.log on the Cloud Foundation Builder virtual appliance:
"code": "Bad Request",
"message": "INVALID_DATA; password must contain only alphanumerics and special characters [!%@$^], password must contain only alphanumerics and special characters [!%@$^], password must contain only alphanumerics and special characters [!%@$^], password must contain only alphanumerics and special characters [!%@$^],

Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

VMware Cloud Foundation 3.0.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud Foundation 3.0. There is currently no resolution.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue, do not specify any passwords with a question mark character in them.
