Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Unable to remount the existing VMware Cloud Foundation ISO bundle.
  • The following errors are seen in the virtual machine console:
Failed to start Network Service.
Failed to mount /mnt/cdrom.
Dependency failed for Local File Systems.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 2.x

Cause

Occurs due to a faulty/missing VMware Cloud Foundation ISO bundle.

Resolution

To allow the SDDC Manager Controller VM to boot properly, the faulty ISO must be replaced with a working ISO file.
  1. Shutdown the SDDC Manager Controller VM if it is powered on.
  2. Navigate to Customer Connect and download the VMware Cloud Foundation bundle. This must be the same build version as the existing bundle.
  3. If the original bundle ISO file still exists, copy it to another directory or rename it to .old. The datastore browser in the Web Client should be used. The default location on the vsanDatastore for the bundle ISO file is the bundle-iso folder.
  4. Upload the new bundle ISO file to the vsanDatastore using the datastore browser in the Web Client.
  5. Power On the SDDC Manager Controller VM.
The virtual machine will now boot successfully.
