Issue/Introduction

This article provides information why you are unable to complete post migration actions and how to avoid it.

Symptoms:
  • After performed HCX Bulk Migration, the "Migration" tracker page shows a warning similar to:

"Post migration actions source job failed"

  • The VM can be migrated to destination site successfully and also can be powered on without any errors.
  • The original VM is remained at source site, however, renaming using a POSIX timestamp suffix and moving to "VMs migrated to cloud" folder are failed.

Cause

If the VM is residing inside a vApp, HCX is unable to perform post migration actions for the original VM.
This issue can be seen in HCX R145 and R146 for now, and considered to be fixed in the future release.

Resolution

Please move the VM from a vApp to another compute resource, such as a host, cluster, or VM folder before performing Bulk Migration to avoid post migration actions failure.
