Issue/Introduction
This article provides information about support for customized vCenter Server port on HCX Manager.
Symptoms: You are unable to make an HCX Manager connection with the vCenter Server via a customized HTTPS port. You may see the following issues if you registered vCenter Server like "https://<vCenter FQDN>:<Customized HTTPS Port e.g. "20443">/" in HCX Manager installation.
Some vCenter inventories such as port groups will not appear in Network Profile creation even if these have valid VLAN IDs and these aren't vmkernel port groups.
In app.log on HCX Manager, some jobs related to inventory updates will be failed with exceptions like the following.
2021-**-** **:**:**.*** UTC [TopologyService_SvcThread-2772, Ent: HybridityAdmin, , TxId: ********-****-****-****-************] WARN c.v.v.h.vsphere.UpdateInventoryJob- Inventory Job ********-****-****-****-************ failed. Requeing job for full sync... java.lang.RuntimeException: Error communicating to VC endpoint <vCenter FQDN>:443. Reason: HttpHostConnectException
Cause
You are able to register vCenter Server with a customized HTTPS port like "https://<vCenter FQDN>:20443" in HCX Manager installation, however, it will not be functioning properly. The HCX Manager only supports HTTPS 443 for vCenter Server connection and does not support customized HTTPS port.
Resolution
Please ensure that your vCenter Server does not apply port customization before installing HCX Manager.
