Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

Cause

A previous attempt to utilize the vCenter installer.exe may cache old information.

Resolution

Please see the below workaround.

Workaround:
As a workaround, delete the "installer folder" within the temp directory to clear the cache.
  1. On the desktop where the installer.exe is being run from, open a File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming
    • Note: The AppData folder may be hidden.
  3. Right-click on the "installer" folder and delete the folder.
    • Alternatively, you may rename the installer folder to "installer-old"
  4. Restart the vCenter Server installer

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
Performing the workaround requires deletion or renaming of a folder in the temp directory.
