Issue/Introduction

Users may run into this issue during VxRail cluster upgrade and, as per Dell VxRail team, this is an intermittent issue which will work with the workaround provided below.

Symptoms:
During VxRail upgrade from 7.0.371 to 8.0.100 the upgrade may fail with the error. "Upgrade cannot continue because the NSX VIB is an incompatible version on host esxi.domain.local". Also, in NSX, hosts -> NSX Configuration is in a failed state.


Cause

This is an intermittent issue seen on VxRail manager during VxRail manager upgrade.

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution.

Workaround:
Follow the below steps:

1. In NSX -> Under Hosts -> <hostname for which the error was shown>, Click on the Install Failed error and resolve.
2. Retry the upgrade from SDDC UI
3. The upgrade should proceed and be completed if there are no other issues.
