Issue/Introduction

This articles walks through on how to repair the Recoverpoint4VM plugin.

Symptoms:
When navigating the vCenter web client and selecting a VM, the boxes which show Recoverpoint4VM plugin information do not show up.

  • After restarting the vSphere web client, the following message appears in /var/log/vmware/vsphere-ui/logs/vsphere_client_virgo.log
Recoverpoint VM Error downloading "https://<FQDNorIP>/RPVWCPlugin.zip. Make sure that the URL is reachable then logout/login to force another download. java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect

This indicates a problem with the IP address where vCenter needs to talk to recover point.

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 6.x

Resolution

To resolve the plugin:

  1. Log into vCenter Mob e.g. https://vcenter.domain.local/mob via [email protected]
    • Note: Replace vsphere with the appropriate local domain to the environment.
  2. Navigate to Content.
  3. Navigate to ExtensionManager.
  4. Under Properties, expand the list by clicking on (more...).
  5. Search for the Recover Point for VM plugin.
  6. If you click on the plugin, you can see the FQDN or IP being used.
  7. Verify that IP address is still valid and reachable to vCenter.
