Issue/Introduction

The following VMware Tools downgrade scenarios are not supported on guest operating systems:

  1. Installing newer version of VMware Tools on guest operating system
  2. Downloading ISO images of older version of VMware Tools
  3. Mounting or extracting older version of VMware Tools ISO images and invoke the older version of VMware Tools installer using .pl command or setup.exe directly.


Resolution

To downgrade VMware Tools,

  1. Uninstall the newer version of VMware Tools
  2. Install the older version of VMware Tools
