Issue/Introduction
To unblock a customer if a situation as above may arise.
Symptoms:
MPS SVM deployment configured with ‘Specified on host’ option fails on new host commissioned through SDDC Manager
When commissioning a new host into the cluster using the SDDC Manager, the SVM deployment on this newly added host fails because the ‘Agent VM Settings’ on the host are missing.
Environment
VMware NSX-T Data Center
Cause
The ‘Specified on host’ option pick’s up Storage and Network configuration from the ‘Agent VM Settings’ made on each host. As there is no way of setting ‘Agent VM Settings’ while commissioning a host through the SDDC Manager UI, the deployment fails as the required configuration is not found.
Resolution
This is an expected workflow in these circumstances.
If the user wants to use the ‘Specified on host’ setting, the workaround mentioned below has to be applied.
Alternatively, the user can provision uniform Network and Storage settings across all the hosts in the cluster and specify these options while deploying on the cluster.
Workaround: For the newly provisioned host, the ‘Agent VM Settings’ need to be set from the VC UI. After this, the resolve action needs to be triggered from the NSX UI for the affected clusters.
Additional Information
Impact/Risks: MPS SVM deployment on newly commissioned host(s) through SDDC Manager fails on clusters where ‘Specified on host’ is chosen in deployment configuration.
