Removing the embedded license from Aria Operations for Logs 8.x

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• The Aria Operations for Logs (formerly vRealize Log Insight) 8.x version contains a pre-defined, embedded license key for both fresh installations and upgrades. That license key will be invalidated in the next release.

Environment

VMware vRealize Log Insight 8.10.x

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.12.x

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.14.x

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.16.x

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting Aria Operations for Logs (formerly vRealize Log Insight) 8.x, there is no resolution at this time.  Please subscribe to this article to be informed when updates are published.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue, manually remove the license key:

1. Login to the Aria Operations for Logs (formerly vRealize Log Insight) UI as a user that has the Edit License permission
2. Navigate to the Management -> License page
3. Find the permanent license resembling "*****-*****-*****-*****-2XMLP"
4. Remove that license using the x button at the right side of the corresponding table row

Note: The other license keys will not be affected by the change
