Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to Aria operations for logs 8.x, the hostname is reverted to localhost

Environment

Aria operations for logs 8.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting Aria operations for logs, and will be addressed in an upcoming release.

Workaround:

Before 8.12 version:

To workaround this issue, SSH to each affected node in the cluster and run the following command:

/opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_set_hostname hostname

Note: Replace hostname with the hostname of the vRealize Log Insight node you are connected to

Note: If you receive "connection refused," you may need to enable SSH via the beneath method

  1. Open a vSphere Web Client console to the VM
  2. Authenticate as root
  3. Run the command systemctl start sshd

Starting from version 8.14, the vami/vami_set_hostname command is no longer available. To update the hostname via CLI/SSH, use the following command instead:

hostnamectl set-hostname <FQDN>
