Issue/Introduction

Information on disabling partitions and the impact. Will there be any negative impacts if you disable partitioning?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Smarts IP partitions are enabled by default.

Resolution

• Disabling Partitions does not remove the partitions from the IP domain.
• * Impact on APM domain performance (device discovery, polling etc.) due to disabling of Partition. *
• Partition is required to minimize computation when creating device DOWN/UNRESPONSIVE alarms. Disabling partition would result in more computation further causing alarm delays.
• Disabling Partitions is not recommended.
