Scheduled jobs fail to submit for Cisco IOS switch devices.

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to submit a scheduled pull, the following error is received:

There are actions in the listed devices do not have mechanism or SNMP set.  Please verify before continue.  <<device names>>

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

These Cisco IOS switches will not submit because the Device Class settings for Cisco IOS switch do not contain an enabled transfer mechanism.

Resolution

1. Open the Device Class settings by going to System Administration > Global > Device Classes or System Administration > Networks > NetworkName > Device Classes if device classes are being overridden at the network level.
2. Select Cisco IOS switch in the list and Enable either SSH/TFTP, SSH/SCP or Telnet/TFTP from the available mechanism list on the right-hand side.
3. Click Apply and then Close.
4. Now try scheduling another job against Cisco IOS switch devices.
