The purpose is to share information on this problem with affected customers and partners.
Symptoms: After installing version 22H2 updates of Windows 10 or Windows 11 in a VM on VMware Workstation while using Host VBS Mode, the Windows guest may BSOD with an "Unsupported Processor" error (0x5d).
Environment
VMware Workstation Pro 16.x (Windows)
Resolution
This issue is resolved in Workstation 16.2.5, 17.0 and later versions.
Workaround: A workaround is to disable features in the Windows host operating system that require the use of Hyper-V and the Windows Hypervisor Platform (WHP API). These features include: Virtualization Based Security (VBS), Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG), Windows Subsystem for Linux 2, and Windows Sandbox.
