Issue/Introduction

The purpose of this article is to document a known issue.

Symptoms:

Attempting to add more than one server to the NTP servers via the GUI (Lifecycle Operations > Settings > Time Settings) results in an invalid /etc/ntp.conf file:

root@vlcmtest [ /etc ]# cat /etc/ntp.conf
tinker panic 0
restrict default kod nomodify notrap nopeer noquery
restrict 127.0.0.1
restrict -6 ::1
driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift/ntp.drift
server 69.64.225.2,216.229.4.66

NTP does not work on the VMs as a result.

Environment

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.1.x
VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x

Workaround:
Manually edit the ntp.conf file and make sure there is a server line per desired ntp server: root@vlcmtest [ /etc ]# cat /etc/ntp.conf tinker panic 0 restrict default kod nomodify notrap nopeer noquery restrict 127.0.0.1 restrict -6 ::1 driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift/ntp.drift server 69.64.225.2 server 216.229.4.66
