Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Attempting to add an FQDN beginning with a number followed by a period via the UI in Home>Settings>Time Settings results in an error:
Invalid FQDN/IP Address
An example of this type of FQDN:
0.north-america.pool.ntp.org


Environment

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x
VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.1.x

Cause

This is a known issue

Workaround:
Manually edit the ntp.conf file:

root@vlcmtest [ /etc ]# cat /etc/ntp.conf
tinker panic 0
restrict default kod nomodify notrap nopeer noquery
restrict 127.0.0.1
restrict -6 ::1
driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift/ntp.drift
server 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
