vpxd service failing to start with error : "value too long for type character varying(30)"

Issue/Introduction

VPXD service fails to start. Service crashes with a core dump.

 

/var/log/vmware/vpxd/vpxd.log reports an error similar to

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

Cause

This issue has been seen where distributed switches are in use. The setting vlan is NOT a TrunkVlanSpec.

Resolution

This requires offline log bundle analysis of vpxd core dump. Please consult Broadcom Support by creating a new Support Case and upload vCenter logs for further review.
