Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Upgrade/Deployment/Re-deployment/Re-sync operations on NET-EXT appliance of a HCX Service Mesh fails with below error in Service Mesh Tasks and logs:

  • ApplianceLifecycleJob Failed. Reason: Interconnect Service Workflow GenerateAndPostConfig failed. Error: ["org.codehaus.jettison.json.JSONException: JSONObject[\"nsxHost\"] not found.. Cause: JSONObject[\"nsxHost\"] not found."

Cause

On HCX service update R140, the HCX Connector (source site) looks for an NSX Manager even if not configured with one.

Resolution

Upgrade HCX to service update R141 or later. Refer to the HCX Release Notes for release availability.

Workaround:

If encountering this issue on HCX release R140, and the ability to upgrade is not available or possible, please open a support request with VMware for assistance in applying a patch.

    Additional Information

    Impact/Risks:

Any NET-EXT functionality and configuration may fail.
Existing NET-EXT appliances prior to the upgrade to R140 will need to be re-synced only if applying the workaround (see below).
