Resolution
Notes:
Upgrading VMware Fusion 10.x to 11.x does not affect the contents of the virtual machine. All virtual machines and the data contained in them are retained.
Shut down any virtual machine before performing the upgrade. If any virtual machines are in a suspended state, resume them from the suspended state and perform a shutdown operation from the guest operating system. Ensure that status is Powered Off.
Installing VMware Fusion 11.x automatically removes VMware Fusion 10.x from your Mac.
Virtual machines that were earlier present in Fusion 10.x get automatically added to the Fusion 11.x Virtual Machine Library. If the virtual machines fail to appear, re-add them to the library.
To re-add virtual machines to the library:
Start VMware Fusion.
Click File > Open from the VMware Fusion menu bar.
Note: Repeat the preceding procedure for all virtual machines that are present on your Mac.
After completing the upgrade, VMware recommends you to upgrade the hardware compatibility version and VMware Tools so that you can use new product features.
To upgrade the hardware compatibility version:
Shut down the virtual machine.
Click Virtual machine > Settings from the Fusion menu bar.
Click Compatibility.
Click Upgrade.
To upgrade VMware Tools:
Power on the virtual machine.
Click Virtual machine > Update VMware Tools from the Fusion menu bar.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
