To get back the Mouse and Keyboard working in the virtual machine after Mac OS Catalina(10.15) upgrade.

Symptoms:
Mouse and Keyboard does not work or respond inside the virtual machine after Mac OS Catalina(10.15) upgrade.

Environment

VMware Fusion 11.x
VMware Fusion 12.x

Cause

Apple has introduced a feature to allow the users to choose the applications on the Mac to control the computer.

Fusion application should be allowed to control the computer to run the virtual machine in the Mac.

Resolution

Process to Resolve Mouse and Keyboard doesn't function in the VM after Catalina 10.15.x Upgrade:

The below provides steps to resolve if mouse and keyboard doesn't function in the VM after Catalina 10.15.x upgrade:

Step by Step Process:

To troubleshoot this issue, follow the below steps:

Note: If the virtual machine is currently running and you do not wish to shutdown the virtual machine as you are not able to save anything, suspend the virtual machine and quit VMware Fusion.To do this, follow the steps below:

• Go to Fusion Menu > Virtual Machine > Suspend.
• Now go to VMware Fusion > Quit VMware Fusion.

1. On the top left-hand side, click on the Apple Logo, click on System Preferences

2. Now go to Security & Privacy, click on Privacy and towards the left-hand side from the list of options, click on Accessibility.

3. Now place a check mark next to Fusion application listed for the Accessibility window.

4. If Fusion application is already selected, highlight the Fusion app.

5. Click on the " - " to remove Fusion. Click on " + "  and go to Applications from the Finder window to select Fusion application. Click on Open.

6. Open Fusion and launch the Virtual Machine to use Mouse and Keyboard functionality.
